Book of Manners

Why do you have to take turns on the swings? Find out how good manners make the playground safe and fun for everyone

All of us play a part in creating a great school community. Using good manners is one way we can make school a pleasant place. Waiting patiently in line, welcoming others to the table, and cleaning up are just a few good manners we can use in the lunchroom. How can YOU make your school lunchroom a better place?

At the Library today :

Every teacher knows there are certain challenges their students face each year and one of those challenges is behaving in the school cafeteria. I have never found a book that addressed this issue- until now. I own many books in this series, they are perfect for teaching young children how to behave in other areas such as the library, the bus, the playground and more. The illustrations are also fantastic, I appreciate that the illustrator included multicultural characters so my students can relate. The entire series of books is a great investment for any primary teacher.

Today’s Craft :

  • Elmer’s 3D Washable Paint Pens™
  • Craft Stick (Or recycle a popsicle stick if you can!)
  • Beads
  • Buttons
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Paint
  1. Glue four craft popsicle sticks together to form a square.
  2. Repeat step one to make a second square.
  3. Let the glue dry completely.
  4. Paint both squares. Let the paint dry completely.
  5. Decorate the squares using Elmer’s 3D Washable Paint Pens™. Glue on buttons and beads. Let the paint and the glue dry completely.
  6. Glue the two squares together back to back.
  7. Measure your favorite photograph or picture with a ruler. Then, measure the picture frame. Use a pair of scissors to trim the photograph to fit inside of the picture frame.
  8. Insert the photograph or picture, stand back, and admire your craft-stick picture frame!
