AT Home : Tuesday Books

At first glance, cupcakes, beaches, and pirates might seem like an unlikely combination, but in Sandy Harbor, Maine, it's a recipe for adventure, laughter, and... murder. Welcome to the latest installment of A Freshly Baked Cozy Mystery, where small-town charm, yummy cupcakes, and murder come together in the most unexpected ways.

Allie and her best friend, Lucy, have volunteered to bake cupcakes for the town's annual Pirate Days celebration. With the beach filled with kids dressed as pirates, they couldn't have anticipated that the real danger would come from an unwelcome guest – the nosy environmentalist, Cassie Walker.

Cassie's meddling may have turned deadly when her lifeless body is discovered among the pirates and pastry. But who would want her dead? And why was she so determined to poke her nose into everyone's business?

As Allie and her dashing husband, Alec, savor their days as first-time grandparents, they're also drawn into the thrilling hunt for Cassie's killer. The duo must navigate through a labyrinth of intrigue, deception, and small-town secrets to unmask the murderer before they strike again.

Join Allie, Lucy, and Alec as they whip up a storm of mystery, danger, and freshly baked delights in Cupcakes and Beaches – a scrumptious cozy mystery that will have you craving for more!

Another fun summer adventure with Allie and Lucy! I love how I’m never quite sure whodunit in this series until everyone knows. There’s always just enough doubt cast on whoever I might’ve picked. The Pirate Fest sounded fun (especially the cupcakes!) and little Lilly got to be the youngest pirate there thanks to her Mimi Allie. The showdown was non-dangerous since there were quite a few people around, so it’s just a good thing Alec’s a practiced runner! Can’t wait to borrow and read the next book!
