Welcome Home this Friday :
A neighbor dropped these little mini pumpkins off at my Home. We don’t usually eat these little pumpkins; but they get used as decorations then tossed out with the holiday compost. This year I am making candles for the Fall festival booth....
The process is simple: hollow out a mini pumpkin, place wick in place , melt some candle wax, and pour inside. And it has a side benefit: pumpkin seeds!
This is a great way to use up leftover wax or recycled wax from other candles or projects.
Pumpkin seeds:
Boil the pumpkin seeds in salted water for 10 minutes:
Measure the pumpkin seeds in a cup measure. Place the seeds in a medium saucepan. Add 2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of salt to the pan for every 1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds. Add more salt if you would like your seeds to be saltier.Bring the salted water and pumpkin seeds to a boil. Let simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and drain.Preheat the oven to 400°F. Coat the bottom of a roasting pan or thick baking sheet with olive oil, about a teaspoon or so.
Spread the seeds out over the roasting pan in a single layer, and toss them a bit to coat them with the oil on the pan.
Bake on the top rack until the seeds begin to brown, 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the size of the seeds.
Those are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. A great way to use these pumpkins and extra wax.
