I ❤️ love Books and our small library so enjoy my Friday bookish time
I am linking to Friday Book Blogger Hop, Book Beginnings, a meme in which readers share the first sentence of a book they are reading, hosted by Gillion of Rose City Reader and First Line Friday hosted by Carrie of Reading is My Super Power, as well as Friday 56 hosted by Anne of My Head is Full of Books, in which readers share a random sentence or two from page 56 or 56% of the book they are reading.
First line :Tucking her tote bag beside her feet, Tori Sinclair Wentworth glanced over at the sixtysomething women beaming from the sun faded steering wheel.
Murder hits close to home for the Southern Sewing Circle in the latest mystery from national bestselling author Elizabeth Lynn Casey.
Everyone in Sweet Briar, South Carolina, knows former high school football stars Jake Davis and Noah Madden. And there’s only one suspect when Noah turns up murdered.
Margaret Louise, Jake’s mother and one of the founding members of the sewing circle, isn’t about to take the attack on her son’s reputation lying down. In fact, she’s in full mama-bear mode. Book Review :
I just finished Patterned After Death and the first word that came to mind is Wow. Sadly this is the last in the series but this closes with all that you could hope for. When Jake, Margaret Louise's son is accused of murder the Sweet Briar's ladies are turned upside down in so many ways. Margaret Louise steps up as the stalwart mom that she is, never mess with this woman and her family. Tori steps up to help solve the murder to get this town back together, because everybody seems to be invested in this. Along with Rose's failing health, a divide in the group, there is so much going on that pulls every feeling out of you and really makes you look at behind the scenes of what happens to the family. It is all tied up beautifully in the end. Sorry to see this series end but what a wonderful conclusion.
My page 56:
Milo moved in beside Tori , slipping his arm around her waist as he did.
My Mom and Gran was both big sewer. Mom made all of our clothes while growing up. And belonged to a sewing club as well as managed our local fabric store.

2/18/2025 Do you like to cook or bake? What is your favorite thing to make?
I like to cook but can bake . My son usually help me bake since he likes to measure everything out. Cooking is something I can be creative with and have no favorites.
I am in two book clubs. One with women from church and one with women I used to teach with. In a lot of ways they are my best friends.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. Sounds like fun
DeleteI am glad the final book in the Southern Sewing Circle series was such a good one. I am always a little sad to see a series end, but so happy when everything works out for the characters.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately most of the library book clubs here are during the day when I'm working, but that is a great option! I am in four book clubs through a local indie bookstore currently. I am not sure I will be able to keep up with four, but I am enjoying them so far.
The kitchen makes me grumpy. LOL I am so glad my husband likes to cook. I can do it if I have to, but I appreciate that he's willing and able to do it.
My hubby cooks too. We have one at the library on Saturday too.
DeleteBook Clubs are wonderful for making and keeping friends. Fun on your library book club.
