Apple Core crafts for kids

 Easy paper plate apple core projects.... 

Perfect quick project to make....

• Paper Plates – Large or Small
• Craft Scissors
• Red or Green Craft Paint
• Foam Paint Brush
• Green Cardstock Paper
• Brown Cardstock Paper
• Hand-Held Office Stapler
• Black Sharpie Marker

• First you need to cut your paper plate down to look like an apple core. I did this by cutting two small football/diamond shapes out on the left & right side of the paper plate.
• Repeat for each apple you want to make today.
• Squirt a small amount on the top and bottom of the paper plate piece. And with a sponge paint brush   paint the rim of the paper plate to create the outside skin of the apple.
• When done painting, set aside the paper plate piece to allow it to dry a bit.
• Trim out a small stem piece from the brown cardstock, while cutting out a large leaf shape from the green and staple on to finish the project.

Fork Fireworks ! 

Supply List:

A fork, plastic or metal, both work

A paper plate for the paint

Paint

Paper

Start with one color of paint, dip the back of the fork in and then “wipe” the back of the fork onto the paper.  Do this over and over and make a circle pattern.  Clean your fork off a nd then go to another color.  Do this over and over until you have used all the colors.  I used red white and blue but you could use any color

Spring break camp

Tuesday morning and I'm at the library Spring break camp is on ..

It's storytime and crafts with the little ones....

if the weather holds we will be having our brown bag lunch under the Oaks. With  special visitors and outdoor games after lunch. 

Join us for movie and snacks at 2pm everyday.

  goes back to the symbolic use of evergreens in ancient Egypt and Rome and continues with the German tradition of candlelit Christmas trees first brought to America in the 1800s. Who Brought Christmas Trees to America?

Most 19th-century Americans found Christmas trees an oddity. The first record of one being on display was in the 1830s by the German settlers of Pennsylvania, although trees had been a tradition in many German homes much earlier. The Pennsylvania German settlements had community trees as early as 1747. But, as late as the 1840s Christmas trees were seen as pagan symbols and not accepted by most Americans.

It is not surprising that, like many other festive Christmas customs, the tree was adopted so late in America.

Kids crafts 

This is a great way to use up paper scraps. 

I used a star sticker at top and  strips of paper for trees limbs glued in tree patterns. With a square of brown paper for trunk. On a background of your choice.

This Saturday Project; 

Our tree of thanks 

We used a poster board to dry the tree base. 

Then we pre cut the diffrent  colored construction paper We cut leaves.  And had kids write on the leaves with markers and glue on the tree. 

Halloween 2025

Halloween 2025 is here. And our town is having a trick a Trunk and a movie night at community center.  

Craft table....

The Kids craft table is filled with,easy and inexpensive crafts  too make . So gather the kids together and let's start crafting.....

My Pumpkin face : 

Made with orange paint in the center of plate and add construction eyes, mouth and leaves. 

Easy kids crafts

tiolet paper rolls painted white. With DG cloth draped over with black eyes and mouth.  Lighted with electric tea lights. 

Cut TP rolls in half paint black, let dry. Add eyes and glue on pipe cleaner legs. 

 Bat painted black with add black construction wings and face. 

Painting Spiders with cut TP rolls dipped in paint. 

 Direction. Take an empty roll and with scissors cut 5 to 6 slits to make a brush. Dipped in paint and paint on construction paper in spider shapes. Add red spots. 

Halloween foam crafts

Foam sheets ,wooden clothes pin, and basic craft supplies.  

Cut fun Halloween shapes out of foam and add to black painted clothes pins.

Fire Fighter costumes

 

Fire Fighter Hat crafts: 

• Paper plate
• Red paint
• Paint brush
• Black marker
• Yellow sticky foam
• Scissors

How to make your Firefighter Hat Craft:

1. Paint the paper plate red.
2. Cut the paper plate as shown.
3. Trim the edges so the cut part resembles a firefighter hat as shown.
4. Cut a small shield from the yellow sticky foam.
5. Write a number on the shield with the black marker.
6. Stick the shield on the hat as shown.

Black shirt and pants

Yellow duct tape

Grey Washi tape

Scissors

Take a black shirt and black pants. Use yellow duct tape and tape two rows of it. Do it approximately 2" at a time avoiding wrinkles. Start from buttonhole flap in the center and tape around it and finish it on the button flap on the other side. Do the same for the grey washi tape in the middle as shown in the picture. You can also use grey duct tape, as I had washi tape already I decided to go with it. Also, the width of the washi tape was perfect for the yellow duct tape. 

Repeat the same for pant legs and hands. The dress part is ready. You can also print your town's fire department logo and cut it out. Seal it with packing tape and use double-sided tape to stick it on to the shirt. 

It is as easy as that, isn't it? Just remove the tape, once the Halloween is over and you can use the shirt and pant as normal everyday outfit. Cool, right?

Today at the library 

On Saturday we open the library for family time . We host movies, games , crafts and community events. 

Today’s craft is paper plate sunflower.  

With  white paper plate , cut with scissors to make petals and add black construction paper for center after painted. 

Add green pipe cleaner and green tissue leaves. 

Cupcake liners

 

is another fun thing to use. Gather cupcakes liner and cut . Add center and steam with leaves.

Watermelon Fan

 DIY  Watermelon Fan !

• masking tape
• pink, green, and black tempera paint
• paintbrush
• cotton swabs

Paint the paper plate like a watermelon . Using brush paint black seeds. Cut in half. And add craft sticks to the back for handle withtape. 

Moon

July 20th we celebrate the moon landing

Earth Day crafts

 Earth Day Suncatcher's  : Kids Crafts 

• Earth Template
• Tissue paper in green and blue
• Contact Paper
• Scissors
• Tape

Using an Earth template as a base.  Now cut a piece of contact paper to cover the Earth on the template. Remove the backing from the tissue paper. Tape the contact paper over the template with the STICKY SIDE UP. Tear pieces of tissue paper in both green and blue. 

Begin to lay torn pieces of blue tissue paper on the sticky contact paper. Use the template to guide you. Fill the entire ocean area. Overlapping the tissue paper creates a beautiful dimension to the project.Once you have finished with the ocean area, add green tissue paper to the land area on the template. Again, overlapping the tissue paper adds lovely texture and dimension to the project. Once you have completed adding tissue paper-cut another piece of contact paper to lay over the first piece.  Remove the backing from the second piece and smooth it over the first. Flatten to remove bubbles, Now cut around the template to remove the Earth sun catcher from it.

Each year, on March 31st children and adults alike, pick up their favorite colors for National Crayon Day. Opening up a box of crayons opens up a world of imagination and hours of fun. Wax and chalk-based crayons have been used by artists around the world for centuries.

What was the first crayon color?

The first box of Crayola Crayons was produced in 1903 as an 8 count box. It sold for a nickel and contained the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, brown and black.

New Color : Bluetiful

Crayola announced the name of its newest blue crayon selected by Crayola fans. Bluetiful emerged as the winner after an online vote. This hue of blue is inspired by a new pigment, YinMn, that was discovered by scientists at Oregon State University, according to Crayola.

HOW TO MELT CRAYONS IN THE OVEN

1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
2. Peel the paper off the crayons and cut into tiny pieces.
3. Fill each crayon mold with different colors, anything goes! ...
4. Place in the oven for 7-8 minutes or until crayons are completely melted.
5. Remove the mold carefully from the oven and let it cool completely.

I am using silicon small candy molds for my crayons. I grab these on sale at the craft store in the clerance section/
