Happy Luna New Year
And every year my Family always celebrate with food ,family and traditions. So here's a sneak peak of what's coming soon on my blog. More information coming Jan 10th. Lisa Jung
I made these envelopers using a red envelope we had. Red scrapbook paper folded and the decorated with gold stickers and decorations. They are based on actual red envelopes I had.
Traditions of red envelopes:
A red envelope (hongbao in Mandarin, lai see in Cantonese, and and pow in Hokkien) is a gift of money inserted into an ornate red pocket of paper. They are given on some important occasions, such as Chinese New Year, birthdays, and weddings in China and some other Asian countries as a way to send good wishes.
The color red symbolizes energy, happiness, and good luck in Chinese cultures. Traditional red envelopes are often decorated with beautiful Chinese calligraphy and symbols.
Lisa, I love that you shared some history of the red envelope and their meaning. I lived in Singapore for a couple of years and Chinese New Year was a wonderful time and your fabulous envelopes brought back memories of that. thank you for sharing your wonderful creations with us at Festive Friday this week
