What is the purpose of zoos and why are they important?

Today, zoos are meant to entertain and educate the public but have a strong emphasis on scientific research and species conservation. There is a trend toward giving animals more space and recreating natural habitats. Zoos are usually regulated and inspected by the government

My son growing up loved the Zoo and we made lots of visits to meet the animals. Our local Zoo is building a new habitat for the giraffes. 

You can help to build Zoosiana's new Giraffe Center! We have dedicated a large, green pasture on the north side of the zoo as the new habitat for our giraffe family. This new habitat requires a new barn and additional infrastructure to accommodate the giraffe family and future calves. After a visit to the Zoo it inspired me to make some cards and tags using The Wild Thing collection. One simple stamp can be used in many different ways.

These are filled with fun tags made  of handmade seed paper. That can be taken out and planted to grow flowers this spring.

My Flamingo Tag ! 

Is honor of my cousin moving from Florida to North Carolina with her collection of Flamingos. I hope her new community and HOA is ready for her. 

Did you know ??  Flamingos get their pink color from their food.
Carotenoids give carrots their orange color or turn ripe tomatoes red. They are also found in the microscopic algae that brine shrimp eat. As a flamingo dines on algae and brine shrimp, its body metabolizes the pigments — turning its feathers pink

I love this pretty pink flamingo paper  and message : i found in my collection! I used the pink stripe for my flamingo tag. With clipart and green paper for grass it a great addition for a houswarming gift i am giving.
