What is the purpose of zoos and why are they important?

Today, zoos are meant to entertain and educate the public but have a strong emphasis on scientific research and species conservation. There is a trend toward giving animals more space and recreating natural habitats. Zoos are usually regulated and inspected by the government

My son growing up loved the Zoo and we made lots of visits to meet the animals. Our local Zoo is building a new habitat for the giraffes. 

You can help to build Zoosiana's new Giraffe Center! We have dedicated a large, green pasture on the north side of the zoo as the new habitat for our giraffe family. This new habitat requires a new barn and additional infrastructure to accommodate the giraffe family and future calves.
