Genesis : In the Beginning

Welcome to 2024 Word of Faith journaling. I am going through the bible journaling each book.  So join Me each Sunday!

Genesis 1 :1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Importance of Genesis

The Bible would be incomplete and perhaps incomprehensible without the Book of Genesis. It sets the stage for the entire drama of redemption, which unfolds in the rest of the book.

. Almost all of the important doctrines and teachings of the Bible have their foundation in of Genesis.

According to the New Testament, Moses wrote the Book of Genesis (Luke 24:27 and 24:44). We can surmise that he did this with help from actual written records from the past God had preserved.

The first five days of creation.

Craft Book Review:

This is the  book I needed.  It has a section about tools and fibers. Then it teaches a stitch and there is a project to go with it. I’m anxious to try the first project which is a “chain gang” boa - a scarf made from several long crochet chains. I found the troubleshooting sections to be helpful because you can tell something isn’t right, but it isn’t always obvious what has gone wrong with the stitches. There are also helpful tips.Perfect for me the advance beginner but it's also great for more advanced crocheters.

Friday: Craft Closet

From the Craft Closet
My Late Mom was a crafter. And like Me a dabbler in my crafts. She left a collection of crafts and patterns.

And in 2024 my goal is to clear it out and repurpose and reuse what she has saved.

Here's some fun items I made from some beads she had.
I also have a collection of old Craft magazines and patterns.

Join me next Friday for a glimpse of my Craft closet... Lisa

Yule Time Celebration

  Yule time

Are you familiar with the tradition of the Yule log? Or perhaps you like to “troll the ancient yuletide carols”? “Yule” is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world—celebrated on the winter solstice. Learn more about this centuries-old festival and its traditions (including the Yule Log Cake!).

What Is Yule?

Today, “Yule” and “Yuletide” are largely synonymous with “Christmas” and “Christmastide,” but the meaning behind Yule is quite different from that of the Christian holiday.

The word “Yule” comes from Old English geol, which shares a history with the equivalent word from Old Norse, jól. Both these words referred to a midwinter festival centered around the winter solstice, which traditionally marked the halfway point of the winter season. After the solstice—the shortest day of the year—the days once again begin to grow longer, so it’s thought that Yule was a celebration of the re-appearance of the Sun and the fertile land’s rebirth.

Re Purpose Christmas card

This Thursday I am repurposing my Christmas cards..

So collect up your new and old cards and lets Create.

  • Post Cards

Cut off the front of the card so you only have the pretty design. Draw a thick line down the back to separate the message from the address. Save money on postage and stationary!

  • Create Puzzles

Cut up the front of the card into various shapes and sizes. Have your little one piece together like a puzzle!

    Make a Book

Bind a years’ worth of cards together and create a keepsake book. Or, cut up cards to create a special message to a loved one.

  • Bookmarks

Easy as cutting about 1.5 inch wide strip from a card. Punch a hole in the top and tie a ribbon or tassel to it.

    Photo Frame

Cut out the center of a card with a star or window design. Use that as your frame. Or, frame a festive piece of paper and use cut out greeting card embellishments to decorate it.

More Ideas :

How about  cutting out cicles from cards and threading into a garland.

How about cutting top pff to make new cards.

I am using Christmas cards but you can use any types of cards. Birthday cards would make a great wreath.

Scrapbook Time

Its all about family memories as we Scrapbook :

Thursday we will share tips , tricks as i scrapbook memories from the past.

A scrapbook is a collection of items, such as photographs, mementos, and personal notes, that are arranged and preserved in a creative and decorative way. The three main elements of a scrapbook are photos, mementos, and journaling.

Photos are one of the most important elements of a scrapbook. They help to capture and preserve special moments and memories, and provide a visual representation of the events and experiences being recorded. Photos can be added to a scrapbook in a variety of ways, such as by gluing or mounting them onto the pages, or by using photo corners or other types of photo holders.

Mementos are another important element of a scrapbook. These are items such as ticket stubs, postcards, and other small objects that help to add interest and variety to the pages of a scrapbook. Mementos can be added to a scrapbook in a number of ways, such as by gluing them onto the pages, or by using pockets, envelopes, or other types of memento holders.

Journaling is the third key element of a scrapbook. This is the written text that accompanies the photos and mementos in a scrapbook, and helps to provide context, explain the significance of the items being preserved, and tell the story of the events and experiences being recorded. Journaling can be added to a scrapbook in a number of ways, such as by writing directly onto the pages, or by using tags, journaling cards, or other types of journaling elements.

Together, these three elements – photos, mementos, and journaling – combine to create a unique and personal record of important events, experiences, and memories. A scrapbook is not just a collection of items, but a creative expression of the person who has made it, and a meaningful way to preserve and share the stories and moments that matter most.

  • Easy Winter crafts

A wonderful way to spend time together and to celebrate the winter season is to make creative crafts with your kids and loved ones even if they are a little bit fragile and less able than they used to be. It is a fantastic way to spend quality time together as a family while making ornaments and crafts that create lasting memories.

I know that it is very easy to purchase ready-made decorations and crafts, but it is far more festive and fun to make your own special crafts.

    National Candy Cane day

     Candy Cane

“Legend has it that the candy cane dates back to 1670, when the choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany handed out sugar sticks among his young singers to keep them quiet during the Living Creche ceremony,” “In honor of the occasion, he bent the candies into shepherds' crooks.”

    Enjoy your candy canes.

    Celebrating Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is a time of learning, family and celebration.

During the week of Kwanzaa, families and communities come together to share a feast, to honor the ancestors, affirm the bonds between them, and to celebrate African and African American culture. Each day they light a candle to highlight the principle of that day and to breathe meaning into the principles with various activities, such as reciting the sayings or writings of great black thinkers and writers, reciting original poetry, African drumming, and sharing a meal of African diaspora-inspired foods. The table is decorated with the essential symbols of Kwanzaa, such as the Kinara (Candle Holder), Mkeka (Mat), Muhindi (corn to represent the children), Mazao (fruit to represent the harvest), and Zawadi (gifts). One might also see the colors of the Pan-African flag, red (the struggle), black (the people), and green (the future), represented throughout the space and in the clothing worn by participants. These colors were first proclaimed to be the colors for all people of the African diaspora by Marcus Garvey.

    Night Before Christmas

     Night Before Christmas :

We always gather around and read this book on the Night before Christmas. As well as doing a few crafts...

The original tale of The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore is now accompanied by enchanting illustrations from Antonio Caparo in this festive holiday picture book.

’Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…

Since it was first published nearly 200 years ago “The Night Before Christmas” has enchanted readers young and old with the story of St. Nicholas landing on a snowy roof, climbing down the chimney, and filling all the stockings with gifts before riding off in his sleigh, wishing “Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”

This classic poem is now accompanied by stunning, richly detailed illustrations from Antonio Caparo, illustrator of
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Rudolph Shines Again.

Lets make a plate for Cookies for Santa :

You will need ceramic paint/pens (acrylic enamel paint) to do this art project! Wash and dry your ceramic plate making sure there is no dirt or oil on it. Paint your child’s hand/foot and have them press it against the plate (it will be slippery so have them try not to move around). Take some ceramic pens and draw Christmas lights and write “Cookies for Santa.” Once you are happy with the design, set the plate on a baking pan and bake for 30 minutes on 300 degrees. *DO NOT preheat oven, let the plate warm up gradually with the oven so it doesn’t shatter!* Take it out and let cool. Luke 1-2 Christmas Eve

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus

    First Noel

     Christmas eve

    The First Noel

The First Noel the angel did say
    Was to certain poor shepherds
    in fields as they lay;
In fields as they lay, keeping their sheep,
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.

    Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Israel.

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the east beyond them far,
And to the earth it gave great light,
And so it continued both day and night.

    Christmas movie night recipe

We are having a Christmas movie marathon night. On the menu is this: Pull apart hotdogs ring and sauce...

    • 4 rolls of Crescent rolls
    • 1 large egg . beaten
    • 2 Tablespoon poppy seed
    • 16 slices of American cheese
    • 12 large beef hot dog
    • Spicy Mustard

    1. Position an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees F. Turn a large baking sheet over, then cut a piece of parchment large enough to cover the bottom of the baking sheet.
    2. Lightly dust a work surface with flour. Stack 2 crescent dough sheets on top of each other, then use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a rectangle slightly larger than the parchment, about 17 inches by 13 inches. Gently transfer the dough to the parchment on the inverted baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough sheets, setting the second rectangle aside on the work surface. Brush the dough on the baking sheet with the beaten egg, sprinkle with half the poppy and sesame seeds and top with the cheese, leaving a 1/2-inch border all the way around. Top with the reserved rectangle of dough and pinch the sides to close.
    3. Position a 3 1/2-inch bowl upside down in the center of the dough. Use a sharp knife to make 1 cut from the center of the top edge of the dough rectangle straight down to the rim of the bowl, 1 cut from the center of the bottom edge of the dough rectangle straight up to the rim of the bowl, 1 cut from the center of the left edge of the dough rectangle straight to the rim of the bowl and 1 cut from the center of the right edge of the dough rectangle to the rim of the bowl, dividing the dough into 4 equal pieces. Make 2 additional cuts within each piece so that you have 12 pieces total (some will be larger than others, but try your best to make the pieces as even as possible). Remove the bowl from the center.
    4. Put 1 hot dog on each piece of dough so the ends meet in the middle of the dough. Gently wrap the piece of dough around each hot dog. Space the wrapped hot dogs as evenly apart as possible. Brush the dough all over with the beaten egg and sprinkle with the remaining poppy and sesame seeds.
    5. Bake, rotating the baking sheet halfway through the cooking time, until the dough is puffed and golden brown, about 30 minutes. Transfer to a large cutting board. Fill a small bowl with spicy mustard and put into the baked dough in the center. Serve immediately

    Ornaments with decoupage

    Ornaments with decoupage

    • wood circle  Temu
    • Christmas images
    • ribbon,lace, and glitter
    • white paint
    • mod podge
Paint circle with white paint. Add mod poge and lay image down. Cover with mod podge to seal. Add ribbon.

The term “decoupage” refers to a *process*, where papers (and occasionally other things) are glued to a surface and sometimes over each other as well, and the final layer is sealed.

The most common decoupage “medium” is diluted permanent white glue (PVA glue, like Elmer’s Glue All for example).
“Mod Podge” is the same thing but is sold already diluted and describes itself as a decoupage medium. Mod Podge is a *brand name* but the company puts out a few other products too btw.

So either one acts both as the adhesive to hold paper/etc to a surface and also layers of paper to each other, but also as the final sealer on top.
Permanent white glues aren’t as hard and toug
