Easter Cards

Hello and Welcome to today's cards: Easter

Cards 1 and 2 use a basic stamp set and its the extras that make them special.

No 1 : extra rick rack
No 2 : great background paper

Dragonfly

Dragonfly :

1 ) Dragonflies were some of the first winged insects to evolve, some 300 million years ago. ... 6 ) Dragonflies are expert fliers. They can fly straight up and down, hover like a helicopter and even mate mid-air. If they can't fly, they'll starve because they only eat prey they catch while flying

My first simple card on yellow : Wish Big. Is done in pink with sequins on the wings.

This small card has stamped dragonfly  and flowers for this Birthday card. And a matching Dragonfly key chain with beads.

The dragonfly symbolizes wisdom, change, transformation, light and adaptability in life. It shows up in people's lives to remind them that they need to bring a lightness and joy to their life

Easter Rabbit

Recycling  cans into  an Easter Rabbit:

I took a normal can and smashed it down . And then painted with white spray paint- let dry. Paint on face and Add Ears and Raffia bow. Then add wire for hanger. Since its metal it can be used in a wreath or outside garden hanger.

Honey Bread

  • 1 3/4 cups warm water (100- 110 F)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast (not instant)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 5 ¾-6 ¼ cups bread flour

1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add warm water, and honey. Stir until honey is dissolved. Sprinkle in the yeast. Let stand for 10 minutes. The mixture will get foamy and bubbly as the yeast proofs.

2. Fit the mixer with the dough hook and add the melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix until smooth.

3. Add flour slowly, about 1 cup at a time. The dough should stick slightly to your finger when touched, but not be overly sticky.

4. Knead for 7 minutes.

Put the dough in a greased bowl and turn dough over to coat all the dough and cover tightly with plastic wrap or place a kitchen towel over the top. Let rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes-1 hour, until doubled.

6. Punch down the dough gently and divide in half. (I use a kitchen scale to divide in half equally.) Sprinkle flour on the countertop and press each piece of dough into a long rectangle about 8-inches wide; roll it up, pressing on the seams, and pinching the final seam together. Repeat with remaining dough. Place the dough, seam side down, into two lightly greased bread pans. (8 ½ x 4 ½ bread pans)

7. Cover with lightly greased plastic wrap or a thin kitchen towel and let rise until doubled and the dough has risen about 1/2-inch above the top rim of the pan, about 30-40 minutes.

8. While the loaves are rising, preheat the oven to 350.

9. Bake 29-32 minutes, or the loaves are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped. (It should be an internal temperature of 190-200 degrees F.) Remove to a cooling rack and spread butter on top. Optional, sprinkle with a little salt. Cool before slicing.

Bees and Honey projects

 Garden Time this Tuesday !

Today I am celebrating Bees and honey

The greatest contribution of bees and other pollinators is the pollination of nearly three quarters of the plants that produce 90% of the world's food. A third of the world's food production depends on bees, i.e. every third spoonful of food depends on pollination. ”Ending hunger is everyone's responsibility.”

My Krafty Projects  : Read On

Pocket card :

Tri Fold Cards:

These 3 cute cards are made using Simple Stories : Garden paper I had on hand. In bright Sunny colors these are perfect for any Garden lover .
  1. First card uses a journal card from the pack for a cute pocket card
  2. Is a Gatefold card in a diagonal shape with a large Bee cut out on the center.
  3. Yellow damask gatefold with a large stamp in the middle . With bees inside.

Honey Soap :

Glycerin Soap base (Melt & Pour)
Honey ( 1 ounce per bar soap) .
A Pyrex measuring cup (or microwave-safe bowl)
A soap mold
Bubble wrap

Chop your glycerin soap base into cubes. This will help it to melt faster.Microwave the glycerin for 30 seconds at a time, until it’s fully melted.Add the honey to the melted glycerin. Stir it in until it’s well incorporated. Then, pour your honey soap base into your molds.Cut a piece of bubble wrap to fit inside the top of your mold. Then gently press the bubble wrap into the surface of your soap with the bubble side facing down.Allow the soap to cool and harden completely. Then, lift the bubble wrap off, and unmold your soap.

 Bee's Wax Candles :

  • 1 pound  beeswax
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • mason jars
  • candle wicks
  •  old coffee tin
  • Large Pot that will fit your metal pitcher (or metal container you are using)
  • Bamboo skewers  or pencils
  1. Add the beeswax to a metal pitcher or metal can.  I suggest using a metal container that you can throw away when you are done because it is next to impossible to clean beeswax out of dishes.  I am using an old popcorn tin.
  2. Place the metal container into a large pot of water and bring to a boil.  This is your double boiler!  Turn heat down to medium and occasionally stir until all the beeswax is melted.
  3. Once the beeswax is completely melted, remove from heat and stir in the coconut oil. (This helps the beeswax burn slower.)
  4. Add in 30-50 drops of essential oils of choice. (optional)
  5. Secure a wick at the bottom of the mason jar with a little glue and then fill the jar with the melted wax and coconut oil. Leave about an inch of room at the top of the jar.
  6. Using a pencil or bamboo skewer, wrap the other end of the wick around it and lay it horizontally across the top center of the jar. This will keep the wick centered while the wax hardens.
  7. Once the wax is completely hardened, you can trim the wick, and it is ready to light.  It should be about 1/2 inch long.

Bee's in the Garden :

We depend on pollinators for the gardens we enjoy, many of the plant materials we utilize, and of course the food we eat. According to the Earth Day Network, 90 percent of flowering plant species are dependent on insect pollination, and a full 35 percent of global food production i

Tips to attract Bee's and Butterflies:

Go native.

Local plants match the needs of nearby pollinators. Those modern hybrids you find at plant nurseries, on the other hand, may have pollen, nectar, and even scent bred out of them. A little research into your local climate and soil will reveal which plants work best

Mix it up.

Fill your yard with flowers

To please your bees and your butterflies, opt for plants of all shapes and colors that will bloom from early spring to late fall. Planting clumps, rather than individual flowers or plants, will also make it easier for pollinators to find you.in your yard

Bees rely on blooming wildflowers, shrubs and trees to provide food — nectar and pollen.

Flowers should blossom over the seasons, from early spring to late fall. Choose a diversity of native species of all shapes and sizes. Plant big patches (think bull’s eyes) of each for more efficient foraging (less distance for bees to travel).

Kool Aid Died Eggs

Have you started dying eggs yet? We tried this for our Easter Egg Hunt:

To Dye Easter Eggs With Kool-Aid

To begin, pour each envelope of drink mix into a small cup, fill each cup 1/2 full with water, and stir to dissolve. You'll submerge one egg in each cup, allowing it to soak until the eggshell is dyed. The color begins to take within a minute or two. The result is brightly dyed eggs in cheery Kool-Aid colors. If the colors aren't bold enough, add more powder to the dye mixture or allow the egg to soak in the dye for a longer period of time. Remove the eggs with tongs once you're satisfied and set them on a towel or carton for drying. Be careful not to touch the wet eggs, as the colors can smudge.

Which Kool-Aid Colors Work Best?

Every packet of drink mix has the ability to dye your eggs, but some of our favorite shades come from the Strawberry, Lemon-Lime, and Berry Blue powders. The darker colors will dye eggs more quickly, but you can double up lighter-colored flavors like Lemonade to increase the intensity. You can also mix the flavors in each cup in order to create an even wider range of hues. The grape flavor tends to result in more of a gray than purple, so many recommend tossing some blue powder in there for a more vibrant color.

Have fun and Enjoy....

The eggs aren't the only things dyeing in Buttercup... It's springtime on Dewberry Farm, and homesteader Lucy Resnick is busy putting together her wares for the Easter Market. She's just finished potting the last of her herb starts when a tornado rips through her farm, destroying her crops, scattering her livestock and tearing up the barn. As Lucy searches for two kids lost in the storm, she makes a grisly discovery: her neighbor's home health aide, Eva, strangled with a hand-knitted scarf. While investigating the young woman's death, Lucy discovers that blood isn't always thicker than water... and that somebody may be taking advantage of the town's more vulnerable citizens. When a second body turns up, drowned in a vat of dye, the whole town is walking on eggshells. Will Lucy find the killer in time? Or has dyeing season
