Memorial day paper wreath

Memorial Day is just around the corner and we are making these fun and easy wreaths...using my favorite paper plates.

  • Paint or crayons
  • Sticker or decorations
  • Glue

  • Use a glue stick to place the stars around the wreath.
  • Add glitter glue and sticker gems or any other decorations they wanted.

Saturday Kidz Krewe

Today the kids and I are cleaning flower beds and replanning flowers in the flower beds in front of the Library…..

From the aster to the zinnia, Mrs. Peanuckle introduces very young children to 26 types of flowers from across the globe. For each one, she offers a single defining characteristic, some of them very surprising. Did you know that there are twice as many orchid species as bird species? It’s true! Do flowers taste good? Birds, bees, and butterflies sure think so! You’ll even find flowers in certain teas. With bold, colorful pages, strong graphic art, and exciting design, these flowers are certain to be remembered by the children and adults who share this book.

Mrs. Peanuckle’s Flower Alphabet is the third title in a series of board books celebrating the joy of nature at home and in the backyard, from fresh fruits and vegetables to birds, bugs, and trees.

You can’t go wrong with mrs peanuckle books. This is my 4th! Photos are great. My baby loves these books they’re fun and colorful to look at

BBQ Day : How to Grill

How To Grill Everything: Simple Recipes for Great Flame-Cooked Food

The ultimate grilling guide and the latest in Mark Bittman’s acclaimed How to Cook Everything series

Here’s how to grill absolutely everything—from the perfect steak to cedar-plank salmon to pizza—explained in Mark Bittman’s trademark simple, straightforward style. Featuring more than 250 recipes and hundreds of variations, plus Bittman’s practical advice on all the grilling basics, this book is an exploration of the grill’s nearly endless possibilities. Recipes cover every part of the meal, including appetizers, seafood, meat and poultry, vegetables (including vegetarian mains), and even desserts. Plenty of quick, high-heat recipes will get dinner on the table in short order (Spanish-Style Garlic Shrimp, Green Chile Cheeseburgers); low and slow “project” recipes (Texas-Style Smoked Brisket, Pulled Pork with Lexington BBQ Sauce) are ideal for leisurely weekend cookouts. You’ll also find unexpected grilled treats like avocado, watermelon, or pound cake, and innovative surprises—like how to cook paella or bake a whole loaf of bread on the grill—to get the most out of every fire.

Kindle Unlimited: This book  include tons of recipes for meat, seafood, and veggies! As a "flexitarian" I really appreciate this is not just all steaks and meat. The recipes for vegetables are creative, and give you an excellent understanding on how to properly grill various types of veggies and even fruit. Try the watermelon steaks recipe, your mind will be blown!

Recycled Button Magnets

Need a quick Birthday gift ? Follow along ...

Supplies:
Buttons ( no shank the best)
 Super-glue
 Magnets
 Self-adhesive plastic gems (optional)

Separate your buttons out. You will be stacking your buttons by size and types. The biggest flat button will be glued to the magnet and will be the base. Next sizes button glued on and so on. The top is great for gems or specialty buttons.

Tip:
You can use regular sewing buttons to make this. If your buttons have shank remove with pliers or tool.

Buttons can be found in assorted sizes in bags without shanks in craft sections. #dollarstorecraft ....Lisa

RECYCLED CHUNKY CRAYONS

 Recycle Old Crayons

So you have an excuse to buy New ones .

  • 20-30 old crayons
  • metal muffin tin, any size
  • cooking spray

Direction:

Get out your old crayons. Take off the paper (if it is still on). Kids love to help with this! Then break or chop them into smaller pieces about 1/2 – 1 inch pieces.

Spray your muffin tin with cooking spray and add some crayons into each spot. The more or less you put depends on what size you want for each chunky crayon.

Place the muffin tin full of crayons into a preheated oven of 275 degrees F. I used both mini muffin tins and large muffin tins. Watch them carefully, they will melt fast. Bake them for about 7-8 minutes. When they look melted enough, carefully and slowly remove them from the oven.

Let Cool- Pop out and Color with your Chunky Crayons .

Grandma Buttermilk Biscuits

National  Buttermilk Biscuits  Day

My Grandma was the biscuit maker in the family. She made them everyweekend for family and friends dropping ye for coffee. But it wasnt unusal to have them in the middle of the week for dinner with eggs and bacon or ham.

  • 2 cups all purpose flour, spooned into measuring cup and leveled-off
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1¼ teaspoons salt
  • 10 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into ½-inch chunks
  • ¾ cup buttermilk, plus a bit more if necessary

  • Preheat oven  425 degrees

Place the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl  and Mix.  Add the cubed butter and cut into the dry ingredients with a pastry cutter or forks  until coarse crumbs form.
a  Make a well in the center of the mixture. Pour 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk and drizzle honey on top. Fold everything together with a large spoon or rubber spatula until it begins to come together. Do not overwork the dough

  1. Pour the dough and any dough crumbles onto a floured work surface and gently bring together with generously floured hands. The dough will become sticky as you bring it together.  Using floured hands or a floured rolling pin, flatten into a 3/4 inch thick rectangle as best you can.

  2. Cut into 2.75 or 3-inch circles with a biscuit cutter. Place on lined baking sheet with biscuits touching. And bake for about 2o minutes or until tops are golden brown.

Mothers Day : Book and gift

The Mother's Day Mishap: A Cozy Mystery

If you love small towns, endearing relationships, food, animals, and a touch of murder, you will love this new mystery series by Kathi Daley, author of the popular Zoe Donovan Cozy Mystery Series. It's Mother's Day in White Eagle Montana and spring has come to the small foothills community. It's the season for puppies and kittens to be born and rehomed, families to gather for an outdoor picnic and a baseball game, friends to fall in love, and a shocking mystery to filter to the surface after so many years. Join Tess and Tilly as they sleuth out the truth while delivering the daily mail.

book review :

The Mother’s Day Mishap is the third book in Kathi Daley’s Tess and Tilly Cozy Mystery series and it’s a delightful read. This is an awesome series, with interesting mysteries (old and new) and wonderful well rounded characters. The writing style flows smoothly at a steady pace. Once again, Ms. Daley has provided readers with a fun, clean read, caring and compassionate characters. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading well-crafted cozy mysteries.
